San Francisco?s Golden Gate Yacht Club sued the two-time America?s Cup champion Alinghi yesterday, seeking to replace the Spanish syndicate Desafio Español as the official challenger for the next regatta. Golden Gate asserted that Club Nautica Español de Vela was an ?invalid challenger? because it never held a regatta as stipulated in the rules of the ?deed of gift,? the regulations that govern the America?s Cup. The suit was filed in the State of New York?s Supreme Court, which has jurisdiction to settle all disputes in the competition. more…

The Coast Guard rescued more than 110 participants in a sailing regatta, most of them children 11 to 15 years old, from Dublin Bay after a sudden squall capsized a number of the small craft. All had life jackets. Fifteen were taken to hospitals with symptoms of hypothermia. Last week we were in Hyeres competing in the 39th French Olympic Sailing week. It was our first Isaf grade 1 event together and my first grade 1 event. Our goal was to be top 5 silver fleet, but we qualifyed in 10th overall so easily putting us into gold fleet. We felt that we were sailing really well and we were always gaining places in races and making the right decisions but most of all we were achieving all of our process goals. In the first days of gold fleet everyones results were really inconsistent but we managed to get a 14 and 17 in the variable conditions which closed the gap bet… more…
